“Artworks can tell us so much about life and philosophy without speaking a word, without making any noise. What a contrary to my urban life with multitudes of sounds that usually contain little significance.”

Cadaqués is absolutely the place to be for the summer. A beautiful town in Catalonia, Spain, and home to the famous artist Salvador Dalí, I was instantly lost in a picturesque paradise.

My favorite part about this trip is definitely visiting Dalí’s house in Portlligat. As a teenager, I spent half of my last high school year in the art studio. I drew and painted as I wished, and I relished the freedom so. Artworks can tell us so much about life and philosophy without speaking a word, without making any noise. What a contrary to my urban life with multitudes of sounds that usually contain little significance.
I appreciate how the Dalinian symbols inspire me: hard on the outside and soft on the inside like the snail or the egg (Isn’t this true for most people too?), mystery in the drawer, strength of the elephant, and the mastery of time of the clock that governs human life. I admit that realizing how fast time progresses makes me nervous!

Nude Is Never Out of Style

“You just need to break the rules sometimes. It is essential to note that imperfection is beauty in its most natural state, and I find this realization to be very provocative and artistic.”

Initially, I thought I had a dilemma when I want to wear this off-shoulder button up shirt and nude dress at the same time. Of course, it is stylishly possible!

Most people wear off-shoulder shirts like these with pants, and they stay tucked inside. This is because it tends to give the illusion of a taller and slimmer figure by tightening the waistline and elongating the legs. Since I am wearing a dress underneath, I do not have that option, but it totally works out fine! Dressing up is not always about following the guidelines. Just enjoy your liberty for experimentation and personalization.

Light Up with Silk Scarf

“If you wish to travel far and fast, travel light. Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness and fears.” – Cesare Pavese

In the mood for Light & Airy

I am back in the heat of Bangkok. All I want to do under this hot current is to stay as cool as possible. I dive in my closet and get back to the basics. I reach for the plain, comfortable, yet elegant sleeveless top from the Uniqlo Airism series from the Hana Tajima collection to satisfy the occasion. Functional elegance is the keyword. The fabric is light and breathable, and I feel so fresh.

Cream and Blue Elegance

By on May 18, 2017
Another urban chic look from the Hong Kong trip.

Karin Karas takes us to the renowned Shelley Street in Central, Hong Kong. I opt for solid color items with audacious colors like blue and orange. I could not wait to wear my favorite blue summer dress, so here it is, paired with the creamy Tencel Wrap long-sleeve tunic from Hana Tajima 2017 Spring/Summer collection for Uniqlo. There are so many ways to wear this tunic…

Be A Work of Art

By on April 18, 2017

Oscar Wilde once said “One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art.” Today, I am both!

I am inspired by Louis Vuitton’s new collection of handbags, in collaboration with artist Jeff Koons.

Bold Blue Layers and Classic Beige Coat

By on January 15, 2017

This is my first blog post, ever!

Today I visited Châtillon-d’Azergues, a small medieval village in the Beaujolais area. The region is famous for its golden architecture constructed by golden-colored stones, hence the name Pays des Pierres Dorées (Country of the Golden Stones).

I believe wearing some cobalt blue will complement the various shades of golden yellow. So, I have decided to wear my warm ultramarine turtleneck from Uniqlo with the midnight blue long cardigan coat from Zara. I have always loved the soft, tiny glitters scattered across the coat. They give such a polished and understated glam touch.
