Nude Is Never Out of Style

“You just need to break the rules sometimes. It is essential to note that imperfection is beauty in its most natural state, and I find this realization to be very provocative and artistic.”

Initially, I thought I had a dilemma when I want to wear this off-shoulder button up shirt and nude dress at the same time. Of course, it is stylishly possible!

Most people wear off-shoulder shirts like these with pants, and they stay tucked inside. This is because it tends to give the illusion of a taller and slimmer figure by tightening the waistline and elongating the legs. Since I am wearing a dress underneath, I do not have that option, but it totally works out fine! Dressing up is not always about following the guidelines. Just enjoy your liberty for experimentation and personalization.

Cheap Chic in Shanghai

“Looking stylish is not about the expensive price tags. It is merely about having a sense of style and putting the pieces together.”

I am in the center of Jing’An (静安), an area in Shanghai where luxury blings at every corner. Whether it be the shiny sports cars and fine watches, carats of diamonds, big labels handbags you see every 3 seconds you walk down the streets, the retail spaces, the grand hotel lobbies, the…, and the… The list is endless, because we are in China, home to 40% of the world’s luxury consumers.

Back when I was a university student in Shanghai, I did 2 of my internships in 2 of these skyscrapers in the background. The first one was at LVMH Fashion Group, and the second at Burberry. Strolling down this West Nanjing Rd. (南京西路), really brings back many fond memories of the years that I spent in this city. Despite my personal preference and professional experience in the luxury fashion industry, I sincerely believe that looking stylish is not about wearing the most expensive pieces. It is rather about you being true to your own taste and budget, and wearing what you feel really confident in. There is no need to
pretend…

All White Outfit on 25th Birthday

By on June 24, 2017

“Life is about constantly learning and embracing new things, so I should strive to keep a part of my mind pure, as if it is a white piece of paper, ready to take notes and draw pictures on.”

This is my 25th birthday celebration. I feel that 25 is an age that is still young, but not that young anymore. For some Asian cultures, it is considered getting old! The highly conservative ones believe that it is an appropriate age to get married and have children. I want to express that I am still young, yet acknowledge that I’m also aging and maturing. So, I invited all my friends to come dressed in white, to reflect on our eternal innocence regardless of our age. I want to be reminded that life is about constantly learning and embracing new things, so I should strive to keep a part of my mind pure, as if it is a white piece of paper, ready to take notes and draw pictures on. I treasure my life experiences, but I believe that imposing what I already know, walking around the world with my mind like a piece of paper full of notes is simply unfair for the new things that I will encounter.

Light Up with Silk Scarf

By on June 11, 2017

“If you wish to travel far and fast, travel light. Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness and fears.” – Cesare Pavese

In the mood for Light & Airy

I am back in the heat of Bangkok. All I want to do under this hot current is to stay as cool as possible. I dive in my closet and get back to the basics. I reach for the plain, comfortable, yet elegant sleeveless top from the Uniqlo Airism series from the Hana Tajima collection to satisfy the occasion. Functional elegance is the keyword. The fabric is light and breathable, and I feel so fresh.

Earth Tone Minimalism in Hong Kong

By on May 5, 2017

“Once you are high up, go on with the wind and the beautiful mighty birds, but never forget your roots and the humble worms that surround.”

Down-to-earth and flying high

There is an endless sea of skyscrapers in Hong Kong, because space is such a scarce resource. They are no doubt the essence of Hong Kong, therefore, a sight worth capturing. Today fashion photographer Karin Karas takes us high up to a rooftop in Kennedy Town, an area that is currently being graced by Hong Kong’s urban expansion.

I carry the earthly vibe in 4 shades of solid brown in my outfit up to the rooftop that overlook pastel buildings.

Fishnet and Green Lipstick

By on April 25, 2017

“There are plenty of fish in the sea, and a fishnet is what you need.”

I went to the mall on Saturday and ran into an old friend – makeup-junkie Emma at the M.A.C store. I was wearing this green top that day, so the green lipstick on the display happened to catch my eye. I have always been so entertained by M.A.C lipstick color names, so I picked up the stick to uncover the label, and my amusement level skyrocketed when I discovered that its name is Deep With Envy. Oh, the intensely poisonous sound of that really seduced me. “Let’s try it on you,” said Emma… and here we are today, with the fishnet too!

Be A Work of Art

By on April 18, 2017

Oscar Wilde once said “One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art.” Today, I am both!

I am inspired by Louis Vuitton’s new collection of handbags, in collaboration with artist Jeff Koons.
